On Wednesday, 6/5, at 6:00 PM in the band room, we’re hosting a Band Informational Meeting for all parents of band students in grades 4-12. Join us to learn about rental options, instrument care, student expectations, performances, and opportunities. You can even rent instruments to take home for the summer. We hope to see all band parents there!
On Memorial Day, the LMCS Interact Club marched in the parade and presented and dedicated one of the Trex benches to all the Veterans with a special thanks to and in honor of Veteran Gene Froehlich. The bench will be at the Veterans park.
Livingston Manor hosted Author Day for students in pre-k through sixth grade on Wednesday, May 29.
Pre-k through second grade meet with author and illustrator Jannie Ho, whose works include "Bear and Chicken" and "The Lost Mitten," while the older students heard from author Anica Mrose Rissi, author of the "Anna, Banana" chapter book series and other books for children and young adults. The authors shared their creative journeys and the magic behind their stories. They were also welcomed to a luncheon meet and greet with staff.
The Spring and End of Year Modified/JV/Varsity Athletics Awards Presentation is scheduled for 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, in the Livingston Manor Main Gym.
Students who participated on a sports team this year are encouraged to attend. All Spring and End of Year letters, certificates, pins and plaques will be presented at this time. Athletes are also reminded that this is a public presentation and should be dressed professionally. Jeans, T-shirts, work boots and hats are NOT acceptable. Those who have extenuating circumstance that will prevent them from attending should contact Mr. Eggleton in the Athletics Office before the ceremony to make alternate arrangements to receive awards. All parents, family and friends are welcome to attend. There will be a buffet dinner hosted by the Livingston Manor Cafeteria Staff. All athletes are able to attend for free and all guests are $10 per person at the door.
The third-graders in the afterschool program worked with Mr. Dan Smith to write a piece on percussion instruments that they appropriately named, "Rainy Day." on Tuesday. They weren't able to go outside, but instead wrote the together. They worked to create their musical interpretation of rain. A video of the selection is available on our Facebook page.
Livingston Manor Library began hosting a monthly Sensory Play Series for children and their families in February. The Sensory Play Series targets neurodiverse children ages 3-10 and their families and seeks to provide children with an experience that is flexible and responsive to their natural play style. It is inclusive of the whole family, offering caregivers tools and games they can play at home to further connect with their child. Each month will model sensory play, focusing on a different sense i.e. sight, sound, touch, smell, taste and movement/balance led by artist and producer Jess Kaufman. The fifth program, at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 15, will focus on sound. There will be musical accompaniment by Joe Bergstein. Those who wish to attend are asked to sign up at the library by calling 845-439-5440, emailing livingstonmanorlibrary@rcls.org or visiting livingstonmanorlibrary.org/programsignup.
Livingston Manor hosted its annual bike-a-thon earlier this month. There were about two dozen riders who raised almost $2,250 for Ride 2 Survive. Organizers thank Pecks Market, Wayne Bank, Jeff Bank, Sullivan 180 and Ride 2 Survive for their donations.
LMCS seniors tested their rock climbing abilities at Gravity Vault in Poughkeepsie earlier this month.
The Roscoe Central School Class of 2027 held the First Responders vs. RCS/LMCS Faculty and Staff Basketball Game. on May 20 The class thanked the first responders and staff members who volunteered to play, families and friends who helped with concessions and sold tickets, and for everyone for coming out to support the class! Earlier this month, the modified and varsity softball and baseball teams took a trip to watch the Rumble Ponies in action in Binghamton as par to the Baseball in Education program. Wildcat varsity baseball player Anthony Zamenick was randomly selected by volunteering to be the bat boy for the game. Thanks to Rolling V and Kaplan Foundation for making the trip possible.
The second graders took advantage of the nice weather earlier this month to dine alfresco during lunch.
Students in the Sound Recording Tech class chose their guest (teachers, counselors, support staff) and invited them into the lab for a brief interview. Each guest was asked one question. The students set up the mics, recorded the sessions, edited the interviews and did it all themselves. Hello Wildcats! We are excited to announce that the academic awards breakfast for students in grades 9-12 who are receiving awards will commence promptly at 8:30 am on Wednesday, May 22nd.
Additionally, we kindly remind all families that LMCS will be closed on the following dates for the Memorial Day break: May 23rd, May 24th, and May 27th.

Sullivan BOCES will offer a virtual information session for families and students with disabilities about support outside of and beyond school including post-graduation. Building Bridges Community Resources will be offered starting at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 11.
Discussion topics will include parent supports, available resources, community agencies and student supports.
