On Saturday, Jan. 18, Livingston Manor FFA hosted its first Local Leadership Development Event with Downsville, Sullivan West and Tri-Valley chapter.
A total of 38 FFA members from Grades 6-12 competed in the following competitions: Creed Speaking, Prepared Public Speaking, Extemporaneous Speaking, People in Agricultural, and Employment Skills, which were broken up into junior and senior groups.
There were 25 volunteer judges consisting of school staff and parents from the various school districts, as well as 10 FFA members volunteering.
Once members finished their competitions, they worked on a community service project of filling Valentine’s Day baggies with various products for the residents of Roscoe Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Members made Valentine’s Day cards to give to the residents as well. Students enjoyed line dancing and teaching new members the steps.
FFA thanked Cafeteria Manager Steven Rogers who provided a buffet style lunch for everyone, which included New York homemade stromboli, large assortment salad bar, and Ri’s ice cream. The event concluded with awards by recognizing students that placed in the top half of their competition event.

Savannah Ward placed first in Senior Creed Speaking
