A soccer team poses in front of a goal

The winter season is just getting underway, but we want to take a moment to look back at the fall season.

Below are the season summaries from our fall coaches (with photos courtesy of Jeanne Sager Photography)

Varsity soccer

The varsity girls soccer team had high expectations coming off a section title the previous year. Their hard work and dedication did not disappoint this year which led to great success. The girls finished the season 12-5-1, undefeated in their division, and won the Section 9 Championship for the second year in a row over Eldred.

The Lady Wildcats returned 15 players this year led by seniors Rebecca Gashinsky, Shelly McKinely, Ciarra Staudt and Skyler DeWitt, which gave the team great stability. The team featured a high powered offense who averaged nearly four goals a game, led by a strong group of attacking players. Rebecca Gashinsky led the Wildcats and was the top scorer in Section 9, with an astounding 37 goals and eight assists. Her excellence earned her a selection to the 2024-2025 Section IX Soccer Coaches Association Class C/D All-Star team. Kelsey Ryder provided a dual threat with her speed and finishing and netted 17 goals on the year. Anastasia Niforatos was a catalyst in the midfield controlling the game and creating opportunities for teammates, which got her five goals and 13 assists on the season.

Team defense and effort went a long way this year and was extremely solid keeping the Wildcats in games and out of trouble. After a rocky start, the team allowed only 13 goals in the final 10 games with three shutouts, including the section final. Shelly McKinely, Andrea Bush, Alivia Garcia, Olivia Stickle, Ciarra Staudt and Skyler DeWitt anchored the team and kept other teams from having much success. Goalkeeper Grace Nichols improved greatly and made some amazing saves down the final stretch.

The fall varsity football season mirrored last season in many ways as Livingston Manor/Roscoe struggled to get enough eligible players to play games on our schedule.

We were able to play a game vs Eldred early in the season and a game later in the season at Sullivan West. Although both games resulted in losses, we doubled the number of games that we were able to play last season.

Injuries and grades kept us from playing several games on our schedule. The hope is that with a small graduating class of players leaving, the numbers will be replaced and exceeded by players coming up from the modified ranks.

Our seniors that are graduating are Logan Park and Kyle and Josh Hendrickson. They will be missed.

Thanks to Coach B and Coach Rogers for everything they did for the team during the season.

Varsity Cross Country

The 2024 varsity cross country season was a triumph, marked by the dedication and hard work of our athletes.

Boys team dominance

Our boys team concluded the season with an impressive 13-3 record, a testament to their dominance against tough competition. Their unwavering commitment to training and improvement was evident throughout the season, culminating in a well-deserved spot at the prestigious Bear Mountain Sectionals. Not only did they compete at this challenging course, but they also significantly improved their times, showcasing their growth and potential.

Girls team progress

While our girls team was smaller this year, with only three dedicated runners, they consistently improved their times throughout the season. Their perseverance and determination were inspiring. We're excited to see what they can achieve next year with continued dedication and training.

I'm incredibly proud of all our athletes and look forward to building on this success in the upcoming season. I'm confident that with their continued hard work and our team's support, we'll reach new heights.

JV volleyball

The 2024 JV volleyball season officially ended after the team made immense strides in the right direction. The girls played enthusiastically throughout the season, launching an amazing start to the volleyball program at the JV level. Looking back, it is clear to see the effort, grit, and love that went into this season. Each and every player brought along their own individual strengths playing a vital role to their position and the team as a whole both on and off the court. This season was one of many firsts as we adjusted to new positions and transitions within the match. As a young team in comparison to the teams the girls played against, the obstacles were many. But, day after day, I witnessed the team's growth, maturity, tenacity, and compassion. They were able to overcome challenging matches, reach their goals both individually and as a team, make mistakes and learn from them. Though the wins to losses were not in the teams favor, the girls gained a better understanding of volleyball in playing teams out of our league. By the end of the season, the rallies were longer, the passes went to target, the digs were passed from more difficult attacks, the sets progressed so our attacks could prosper and blocking became a habit. It is truly remarkable to observe the team not only showcase their skill but also exemplify the power of teamwork. The hugs, high-fives, and bright smiles were evident during every match, regardless of the outcome. This truly was a season of growth and I am beyond proud of their hard work, significant strides and performance.

The modified football team delivered an extraordinary performance this year, marked by significant growth and unwavering unity. The new seventh graders seamlessly integrated into the team, rapidly developing their skills and contributing to our success. Our eighth and ninth graders, building on years of experience, provided strong leadership and guidance. The result? An undefeated season that stands as a testament to the team's hard work, dedication, and exceptional teamwork.

The team's success can be attributed to several key factors:

  • Strong Leadership: The eighth and ninth graders provided experienced leadership, both on and off the field. They mentored the younger players, instilled a strong work ethic, and fostered a positive team culture.

  • Rapid Development of Seventh Graders: The new seventh graders quickly adapted to the speed and physicality of the game. They were eager to learn, worked hard in practice, and made significant contributions to the team's success.

  •  Unwavering Teamwork: The team displayed exceptional teamwork throughout the season. They supported each other, encouraged one another, and played as a cohesive unit.

  • Dedicated Coaching Staff: The coaching staff provided expert guidance, motivation, and support. They instilled a love for the game in the players and helped them develop their skills.

Congratulations to all players and coaches on a season for the books! Your hard work, dedication, and teamwork have made this a truly memorable year.

It was another strong season for the modified girls soccer team. The girls finished with five wins, five losses and two ties. We had 12 games this year and six out of the 12 games were by one goal.  The low of the season was not being able to have a full healthy team with all the injuries. There were many highlights of the season we were able to beat Liberty twice, we were able to tie and beat Eldred. Another highlight of the season is that we were able to put a four-game winning streak towards the end of the season. Throughout the season we did a lot of shooting drills, and worked on a lot of small sided games. We had two goalkeepers this year in Angelina Schwartz and Hailey Rogers, with their great goalkeeping skills they were able to have two shutout games and four games with only one goal scored against them. Our great defenders this year were Mila Park, Anahi Rodriguez, Grace Ward, Evelina Piatek, Paige Amback and Elena Wells. They stopped many breakaway opportunities and they also helped out our midfield alot. Our midfielders and attackers this year were able to switch a lot: Emily Trotti, Lynnz Amback, Aubree McBride, Jayda Teipelke, Lily Stone, Karan Seekamp, Leah Staudt and Quynn Parker. These players ran miles this year running back and forth helping out our defense and offense.  It was a great season and I am very proud of how they played, they gave 100%, they strived to get better everyday and they never backed down from anyone. When this team gets to the varsity level they will be a force and I can't wait to see this.  Great Season Girls.

Three crosscountry runners and their coach pose for a photoModified cross country

As we kicked off the start of the modified cross country season I was excited to welcome two new runners to the team. Both Lauren Day and Matthew Mootz proved to be great additions throughout the season. Othello St. John came back as a returning player and showed his dedication and commitment. As the season progressed all athletes improved upon their times cutting more than 3 minutes off from the start of the year. We had some very impressive finishes including third place by Matthew and fourth place by Lauren at Walnut Mountain. Our practices were not always easy but they prepared us for the challenging courses we faced, especially at Fallsburg. Every athlete worked toward their individual goals and achieved them by the last meet. I look forward to next year and I wish Othello luck as he heads onto the Varsity program coached by Nate Juron.

The Manor/Roscoe Volleyball program just completed its second season. This year was my first as head coach of the team. I decided early on to set my priority on creating a positive and cohesive team atmosphere, because after coaching alongside Yomary Rodriguez with the team last year, I learned how much the team environment is a factor on the volleyball court. These ladies were positive, encouraging teammates from day one and created a memorable season that will live in our hearts for a long time. The camaraderie and sportsmanship out on the court was palpable and these ladies truly learned how to work together, have each other's back, stay focused, learn from mistakes and never give up. Our team was made up of three valuable returning teammates who displayed their experience from last season out on the court, six enthusiastic brand new players who had never played the sport before but brought a fierceness that was invigorating, and one highly dedicated player making her transition from manager to player after coming back from a long-term injury. All together, these ladies made up a team that was a force to reckon with out on the court. They worked hard. They played as a team. They always brought their best and had loads of fun in the process. Overall, this was a very special team who had an amazing season, accomplished incredible things, and made their coach immensely proud!
